Upon Arrival, I Met With Charlie And He Stated That The Furnace Was Not Blowing Any Air. I Set The Thermostat To Cooling And Located The Furnace. I Heard The Condenser Turn On, But The Blower Motor Did Not Activate. I Checked For 120V Power Coming To The Unit, But Did Not Find 120V At The Cooling Terminal For The Fan On The Circuit Board. I Verified There Was A Call For The Fan And Then Removed The Circuit Board. Upon Inspection, I Found Watermarks Behind The Board. Additionally, I Observed Three Different Stickers On The Furnace, Each Indicating That The Circuit Board Had Been Replaced Previously. I Then Decided To Inspect The Evaporator Coil. It Was Extremely Dirty And In Need Of Cleaning. I Determined That When The Blower Activates, It Picks Up Water, Causing Damage To The Circuit Board. Furthermore, I Noticed That The Unit Was Using A 1-inch Filter Rated FPR 4-5 (equivalent To MERV 6), Which Is Insufficient For The Unit And Allows Debris To Quickly Dirty The Coil. After Identifying The Root Cause Of The Water Damage To The Control Board, I Discussed The Findings With Charlie And Advised Him Of Various Options. Charlie Expressed Interest In Speaking With A Service Advisor About The Possibilities Of Replacing Both The Furnace And The Condenser.
